Wrapping Up January

Hi everyone! The first month of 2023 is in the books!  I have to admit, I had a lot going on this month and most days my creativity was nowhere to be found. I did get some layouts done, though, so let me show you what I accomplished.

Karen Schulz Designs launched a new project for 2023 that encourages participants to tell their own story as a legacy for future generations. She started the year off with a huge collection called, of course, My Story:

This initial segment of the project encourages users to tell stories of their lives from birth to age 5. The focus is on the story, so there are minimal fanciful embellishments. Purchasing the collection gets you a bonus sheet of some story prompts and inclusion into a private Facebook group dedicated to the project. You can read more about it HERE on Karen's blog.

One of the prompts was to think about a favorite toy you had when you were very young. For me that resulted in the following layout, which was way out of my comfort zone...I don't journal a lot, and a very minimal paper-heavy style is not one I usually embrace:

A little more in my usual style is this layout that I did for the January Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at Oscraps. The row I chose called for a photo, brushwork or paints, and a title:

I used the bundle Rhythms of Nature by Sarapullka Scraps, who is a guest designer at Oscraps right now! She has a great art-journaling style that I love to play around with:

I hope to get the chance to play with more of her goodies soon!

A more traditional kit is this contribution to the January Color Play collection-Winter Bliss by CRK Designs:

One of the word strips in the kit inspired me to scrap a photo from a chilly family hike on New Years Eve. I used this style of the layout to follow the rules of the Clean and Simple challenge at Just Art Scrapbooking:

I'm tickled to say that this layout got a mention on the Gallery Standouts blog on January 28th!

The final layout I'd like to show you is one that I did for the Seasonal challenge at Oscraps:

All you had to do was scrap about the current season where you live, and since we just had our first major snowstorm of 2023, this photo of the green space outside my condo was perfect. I embellished my photo with a few bits from Winter Walk by emeto designs:

The larger bundle that this kit is part of is currently on sale in the Featured Product section of the shop at Oscraps, so you may want to check it out!

That brings us to the end of this post as well as the end of the month! I hope you stay warm and toasty, and make sure you come back and see me soon!
