Hi everyone! Catching up here with you all on this gray mid-January morning. My first order of business is to clue you in to the fact that Oscraps is undergoing a long-anticipated update to their forum and gallery, so those portions of the site are temporarily unavailable. The store is still open, though, so if you click on any product links here you should still be able to check out the goodies I'm showing you!
To start off, I have one remaining holiday layout to show you. This page was done for a template challenge in December at Just Art Scrapbooking, where you were asked to decorate a basic Christmas tree template. Here is my result, using pieces from the Advent 2020 Daily Download from Digital Scrapbooking Studio:
Moving into 2021, I have several layouts I've done for the January challenges at Oscraps so far. First up is a layout I did for the White Space challenge, which required you to stay in black and white and also incorporate a circle somewhere. I really played around with a lot of filters, brushes, and blending modes to come up with this result:
The background came from a paper pack by Maya de Groot that I decided I needed for my stash; App-solute Basics:
The brushes I used came from a freebie I got from On A Whimsical Adventure a few years ago, but she has a very similar pack in her shop HERE.
Another challenge I participated in was the Multi-Photo challenge. You had to use at least 3 photos and they had to be taken on the same day. Some people scrapped photos of things like a party or other event, but I decided to follow the hostess's lead and did a sort of slice-of-life page:
The two masked photos were done using Framed Clipping Masks by Karen Schulz Designs, part of the 2020 52 Inspirations subscription:
I've had my eye on Natali's kit for a while and was glad to finally play with it, so much so that I jumped right into using it for another challenge, this time a Double Scraplift challenge. You were asked to take design elements from two very different layouts and come up with your own interpretation. Here are the two inspiration pages:
In addition to One Day, I used a lot of bits from the Frosty Mornings bundle by et designs, which happens to be on sale for the month of January. Check it out HERE:
As I look back at these most recent pages, I definitely see a trend towards a simple feel without a lot of bright colors. I'm not sure why I'm feeling drawn to create these sort of pages right now, but I'm going with the flow. Who knows, maybe my next pages will be blasts of wild colors! Make sure you come back and see me soon to find out!
