I started using templates a fair amount because that way I could include elements (like frames around photos) that I can't figure out how to make by myself. My version of Photoshop is pretty old and doesn't have a lot of the features of the newer releases. I also for the life of me cannot figure out how to make masks--I've tried and I just can't grasp the concept. Using templates also lets me make use of designers' talents. So here are a few early LO's in no particular order:

Template: Little Rock Star by Fei-fei's Stuff http://www.feifeistuff.blogspot.com
Paper: Swirl Hunibuni by Vintage Artistry
Font: Arial

Template: Sweet Bloom by Fei-Fei's Stuff http://www.feifeistuff.blogspot.com
Papers: Circus Dots, Circus Blue, and Circus Light green by Fei-Fei's Stuff
Font:Arial

This one I didn't use a template, just some elements:
Alphabet: Gilded by Lettering Delights
Font: Browallia New
Elements: Batikki Kit (zoey folded ribbon, metal labelframe, and staple) by Clara Wallace of http://www.matterofscrap.com.

Template: Composure by Amanda Taylor of Taylor Made Designs http://www.oscraps.com
Paper and elements: dots-a-fun Page Pak at Cottage Arts http://www.cottagearts.net
Fonts: DilleniaUPC, Arial, CAC Logo Alternate
