I started using templates a fair amount because that way I could include elements (like frames around photos) that I can't figure out how to make by myself. My version of Photoshop is pretty old and doesn't have a lot of the features of the newer releases. I also for the life of me cannot figure out how to make masks--I've tried and I just can't grasp the concept. Using templates also lets me make use of designers' talents. So here are a few early LO's in no particular order:

Template: Little Rock Star by Fei-fei's Stuff http://www.feifeistuff.blogspot.com
Paper: Swirl Hunibuni by Vintage Artistry
Font: Arial

Template: Sweet Bloom by Fei-Fei's Stuff http://www.feifeistuff.blogspot.com
Papers: Circus Dots, Circus Blue, and Circus Light green by Fei-Fei's Stuff
Font:Arial

This one I didn't use a template, just some elements:
Alphabet: Gilded by Lettering Delights
Font: Browallia New
Elements: Batikki Kit (zoey folded ribbon, metal labelframe, and staple) by Clara Wallace of http://www.matterofscrap.com.

Template: Composure by Amanda Taylor of Taylor Made Designs http://www.oscraps.com
Paper and elements: dots-a-fun Page Pak at Cottage Arts http://www.cottagearts.net
Fonts: DilleniaUPC, Arial, CAC Logo Alternate

This is the very first digital layout I made after learning how to use Photoshop. It's very basic, 2 pages, with just images and text. This is the one I had printed and then put in my regular scrapbook after adding some stickers from Mary Englebreit (so I guess you could call it a hydrid LO). Being able to put all these images into one layout without printing and hand-cropping over a dozen pictures was what prompted me to learn how to digitally scrap. That, and all the spectacular LO's I would see in magazines and on line.

...and now I'm collecting blinkies! It's interesting how some are actual links to blogs and others are just images. OK, I really have to post some layouts...

Well, I've been telling friends and family about my recent addiction to digital scrapbooking. I've done a couple of dozen layouts so far, but have only had one printed. I can't print them at home since I do 12 x 12 LO's. I'll get them printed soon, I promise! In the meantime, I have the finished LO's living on a hard drive, and have been thinking for a while now that I need to figure out some way to show them off. Enter this blog. I hope to get some LO's posted in the next few days.

Side note---my real addiction, if truth be told, is collecting the templates, papers and elements that SO MANY designers are offering as freebies. I am so grateful to these creative people who go out of their way to make their work so accessible to people like me who are just finding their way. A great big THANK YOU to all of you!
